From marketplace launch to about ₹5 lakh in sales in 3 months
How marketplace listings, A+ content, infographics, reviews, brand-store discovery and tightly controlled ads helped Digamber Tea build Amazon and Flipkart momentum.
Digamber Tea already had a real product, regional distribution and decades of brand history. The marketplace job was to translate that strength into Amazon and Flipkart listings that could earn clicks, convert shoppers and gradually depend less on paid traffic.
The brief
The goal was simple: launch Digamber Tea properly on Amazon and Flipkart instead of treating the marketplaces as a place to upload a few products and wait. Digamber’s current Sukoon range spans 17 distinct products across CTC tea, flavoured tea, instant premix, herbal tea and green tea, while Surya Gold remains the flagship everyday tea brand. That breadth made catalogue structure, variant clarity and listing consistency important from day one.
Marketplace listings came first
The first layer was catalogue execution. Amazon and Flipkart listings were created with clearer product naming, marketplace-ready copy, category and variant setup, image sequencing and consistent product information. This gave shoppers enough context to compare strength, flavour, pack size and use case without depending on the offline brand story.
A+ content and infographics did the selling work
The product pages were supported with Amazon A+ content and conversion-focused infographics. Instead of repeating pack shots, the visual hierarchy explained the product, taste profile, format, key benefits and why a shopper should choose one SKU over another. The same creative thinking also improved marketplace consistency across the range.
Ads were used to seed demand, not carry the business
Amazon and Flipkart ads supported the launch, with total spend kept to roughly ₹50,000 at most across the first phase. Brand-store-led discovery and product advertising were used to give the catalogue initial visibility, but the objective was never to buy every order. Paid traffic had to create enough discovery, conversion history and review velocity for organic marketplace visibility to start doing more of the work.
What made the flywheel work
The strongest part of the launch was the shift toward organic marketplace sales. Better listings improved the chance of conversion, early orders helped generate genuine reviews, reviews improved shopper confidence, and a stronger catalogue plus brand-store presence gave shoppers more reasons to browse multiple products. Over time, paid ads became one input into the system rather than the whole system.
About Digamber Tea
Digamber began in Jabalpur in 1973 as Digamber Traders and today operates as an FMCG manufacturer and distributor with a strong presence across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Surya Gold is its flagship tea brand, while Sukoon Premium Tea was introduced in 2021 as the company expanded into premium and speciality teas including masala, cardamom, rose, chocolate, chamomile, hibiscus and blue pea products.
Early marketplace result: about ₹5 lakh in 3 months
The launch generated approximately ₹5 lakh in Amazon and Flipkart sales within 3 months, while total marketplace ad spend stayed at roughly ₹50,000 or less. The key outcome was not simply the paid return: as listings collected orders and reviews, organic marketplace discovery became the larger growth engine and the catalogue started behaving more like a flywheel than a campaign that had to be restarted every day.
